Parent Trapped
I am sure we have all either seen Parent Trap or witnessed the wonderful design brain of Nancy Meyers in the likes of Parent Trap, Father of the Bride, The HOliday, and the list goes on and on… even better than those films is her attention to detail and how the sets are absolutely consuming and intentional, not fussy, but still put together in a cohesive way. Some call it “Coastal Grandma”, but i think it has more precision to it, sort of like the symmetry of a Wes Anderson movie. Follow along for some of the things I’ve noticed about her delightful style.
She is a queen at capturing visually layered looks in all of her films. The kitchens are her bread and butter, but my personal favorites are her living rooms and props are due to the Production Designer, Jon Huntman who worked on “The Holiday”, “Something’s Gotta Give”, and “What Women Want”.
But what we are here for is Parent Trap! My Roman Empire! My husband says that if I can incorporate Parent Trap into any type of conversation I will. I absolutely will! With PT I think there is magic to that movie and the locations, and since we’ve seen what that already looks like, I will compile my idea of what PT would look like if I were to design someone’s space!
